Christmas Crack Candy

Today is the 30's club at Sager Creek Quilt Shop. So this morning I worked on the last two blocks I needed to finish the two month sets, #6 & #7 Here is the block, Jewel, I was working on. Thought I had everything laid out as far as the paper printed for the block and marked on paper which fabric is needed for each section (paper piecing).  But so much for thinking.             Not sure what went wrong on this block         Need to get a little more fabric now to correct my mistake tonight. Other than that, here are the rest of the blocks done . Tonight being that it's December, we always have a cookie exchange.  So the cookie I'm making is called Christmas Crack or Saltine Toffee Candy  Now if you've never had this you'll know how it gets it's name. It is addicting Besides being addicting, it's very simple to make. You only need four ingredient, unless you add nuts on top, then five

What's up

I've been pretty busy since last Thursday so I haven't been able to post anything about what I've been doing sewing wise or around the farm. I've been away doing what  most people probably are doing and that it's Christmas shopping and taking care of things that need to be done before Christmas. I did want to say before I show you what's up on the design wall and that Is I haven't seen the buzzard for a week. So I'm going to assume that since I haven't found a dead buzzard and haven't seen it.  It's safe to say it was well enough to take off and do his buzzard   thing Now with what's up on the design wall is what I had started last week and was able to squeeze in a block or two over the weekend and that is the Farmer's Wife 1930 Samplers blocks.  As you can see I have seven blocks and I need to do two more to complete the two sets that I was given to work on. They are mainly paper pieced an

Quilty 365 having a link up

I found out yesterday that Audrey at Quilty Folks is having a link up for her idea of doing one circle a day. She calls it Quilty 365 . Well after I had read her post about what she was doing, it was a no-brainer .....I was in on this. I had to think about what I wanted my circles to be as far as color and design. So after some thought of what to make, the only good answer was,  an I-spy quilt How long  I have been collecting fabric ? Long before they were born. And since these are for two toddlers, I'm hopeful that they will get a lot of wear and youth. The technique of putting the circles onto the background needs to be what I consider more sturdy, something that can take some wear and washing.  I love to hand appliqué but I just thought machine work will hold up better with two little boys. So what I do is from my collection of fabric here, I will cut out a 4 1/2 in. square.  Take the template and fussy cut the space I want. Then cut s

December 1st

Can you believe it... here it is 1st of December. Like the saying goes, time flies. Today I can say time flew by also.  When I went out to let the chickens out I did not see the buzzard  today. I did see him yesterday underneath the barn but not today, I don't know where it was.  One of the things I needed to do today was process the venison  that "the man of the place" had harvest Saturday.  It has been cut up and on ice aging the past 3 days.  I ground up 15 pounds of meat.  That went into the freezer. Then I made a big batch of chili with a with a couple pounds of it. I also worked on Farmers Wives 1930 Sampler. Was given 2 month worth to work on. I would say out of 10 blocks, only two of them you can do without paper piecing. So needless to say I am getting a lot of practice doing paper piecing. I was able to get three blocks done today. Also I was able to finish cutting out all the pieces needed for the rest of t

What's Up 11/30/15

Again I have my hands in too many pots at the moment. First I'd like to share what I did take down from the design wall this morning and that was the UFO I found. the split nine patch.  It wasn't much to put together seeing how I had all the fabric and I just need to cut out that setting triangles  and the sashing,   just needed to assemble.  Did that yesterday and it stayed up on the wall until this morning, then I took it down. Then I put up another UFO.  I would like to get done before the end of the year and that is my chicken scratch blocks that I have been working on since I believe 1990.  I have had them completed for at least a couple years but just put them away and hadn't done anything with them it's about time I do something with them. I want to put them on point but the stars are not a perfect square so when I first attempt at it a while back I wasn't happy with what I was looking at. But time has passed and yo
