Birding

I have for the past 13 years participated in the Oklahoma Winter Bird Survey.  In 13 years I have missed three times and last year being one  and I was looking so forward to this years survey. It's usually the second weekend in January. I guess because I missed it last year, I did not realize that it had changed, it was last weekend and not this weekend. Talk about a disappointment, I was looking forward to it. I had bought birdseed and I've been feeding them for the past couple weeks to get them all prepared, knowing where the feeders are.  Well so much for that survey, so what I did is I went online and I went to the Audubon website, and the Cornell university website. They have various surveys or bird counts going on all year long.  There's one in February that I want to try to participate in. I'm giving you the website or links to those surveys and bird count going on.  I'm not sure if every state like Oklahoma has a bird count that goes

Carrot Marmalade

I love carrots, and I have a lot of carrot recipes. This includes my  carrot cake recipe that I have here but that's not what I'm going to share today though. I'm going to post my carrot marmalade jam recipe. I had never thought about making a carrot marmalade before until last year when I was trying to find some new jam recipes to make. So well Googling I came across carrot marmalade recipes, I couldn't believe that there is actually a recipe for carrot marmalade. Once I made it and tried it, I couldn't believe how yummy it was. So I would like to pass it along to you and see if you like it just as much as I did. I don't know about you, but I am having a lot of fun with Judy's choices that she has picked so far. I look forward to next week. Carrot Marmalade 2 lemon 2 seville oranges 4 cups water 4 cups grated carrots 5 cups sugar Directions: 1 Wash the lemon and orange and shred them finely. 2 Kee

Stunned

I knew that Bonnie Hunter was a popular lady but I just did not realize how popular she is. Since I posted my version of her Easy Street  Quilt, I have had 2000 visitors. I have never had so many people visit my blog before in 36 hours.   AMAZING  Thank you everyone and I hope to have my quilt put together by next week and will update the last post. Now to new stuff, how did I do with last weeks goal, cleaning up my blog. Well those of you that visit before can you tell I cleaned it up? I took a lot of the sidebar links and such off or moved them to a page of their own. Up at the top is a tab for weekly linky hops, parties,  etc.  I finally added all the egg recipes I've made to its page. And then there is a page for the tutorial for various thing I've made.  I have a couple more idea floating in my mind but not sure how to go about it. So there might be a few more changes.  T he one thing I did think about changing was the blog picture. I have had that one

It will work

I wasn't sure if I was going to like my choice of cheddar, so what I've done is put it up on the design wall to see if I could live with it. I believe I like it. I have had it up there for a couple of days now and I think I'll start sewing on it.  But not tonight (Sunday), Downton Abby is on and I have been waiting for season 3 to start. And nothing can interfere with watching. UPDATE 1-23-13 IT'S Done I have started keeping better tally of my stash so now that it is a new year, I think I have a grasp on how to do it now. I wasn't very good at it the last year. I've used 3 3/4 yards. and did buy 2 yards. So that makes me 1 3/4 yards to the good. I think I'm off to a good start Thanks Bonnie

Show and Tell

Today I attended the Dogwood Guild meeting and they were showing their "Git-R-Done" Challenge Quilts. What they did is at the beginning of last year, members of the guild made a commitment to finish a UFO or more and then when completed they received points. The one with the most in points received a ribbon and prize. So here are some of the "Git-R-Done" quilts. Very busy quilters.

2013 Goals and thoughts

Well here it is a new year with many plans ahead for so many. I wasn't sure if I was even going to make any resolutions. I decided not to, instead I going for goals. So my thoughts are that if I am able to complete one thing a week that could be approachable. It could be health related, or for my family or me. Maybe one of my quilt project or something around the house or garden. Something that maybe isn't important but been wanting to do. I believe it would be worth a try and see what I can achieve this year. There are a few other thoughts I had and one was that my blog needs a good cleaning and rearranging. So that is my first goal for this week, a make over. I am also going to again this participate in Judy's UFO challenge but this year she revamped it. It's called "Getting it Done", we pick  4  things we want to get done in one month time. Here are mine for January; 1. Finish the boys quilt, and yes still not completed, I really need this enc
